An approaching cold front from
the west has already created some pop-up showers and
thunderstorms across western NY early this afternoon. As the
front continues to move east, it will slowly spread heavy
rain and thunderstorms into the rest of Central NY. The
highest chance of rain will come late this afternoon and
evening. With all the moisture in the air over us, some very
heavy rain is likely this evening, with some localized flash
flooding possible. The National Weather Service has issued a
Flash Flood Watch for the entire viewing area. Although we
are still warm, once the rain begins temperatures will drop
into the 70s overnight. Saturday will start with a few
lingering showers, as the heavier rain will have shifted
east of CNY. During the day Saturday, the air will begin to
dry out with some breaks of sun developing with more
seasonable temperatures expected in the lower 80s. That’ll
set us up for a nice Sunday with a mixture of sun and
clouds. However, the heat and humidity will make a return on
Monday. |
